I initially bought this book for my 11 year old because I love books that are positive representations of black culture. I ended up reading it myself and I was enthralled! From the perspective of a mom, I found myself angry and defensive of what was happening to Lotus. I’m definitely giving it back to my little one to read because some of these scenarios, our children may one day have to face. Please buy it.
